Richmond, VA—Today in the Virginia Senate Judiciary Committee, Judge Pamela O’Berry was rightfully certified for Chesterfield General District Court following an unnecessary delay. As mentioned in the Virginia Legislative Black Caucus’ (VLBC) previous letter to the Judiciary Committee urging certification, Judge O’Berry has 12 years of experience on the bench and is clearly qualified. Judge O’Berry is one of two Black judges in the county’s court system and brings an essential perspective and experience to the bench—which is too often lacking in our judicial branch.

The Members of the VLBC thank the members of the Senate Judiciary Committee who voted to certify Judge Pamela O’Berry and urge the Virginia Senate to reappoint her to the bench.
