Richmond, VA—The members of the Virginia Legislative Black Caucus (VLBC) congratulate VLBC Member Delegate Hala Ayala on her historic nomination to statewide office as the Democratic Party nominee for Virginia Lt. Governor. If elected in November, Delegate Ayala would not only be the first woman to serve as the Commonwealth’s Lt. Governor, but also the first Afro-Latina and first woman of color to hold statewide office in Virginia.

The VLBC also congratulates all of the nominees and all VLBC members who won their respective primaries. In addition, we thank all of our members who ran statewide and we truly appreciate their indispensable contributions to the Commonwealth.

We look forward to all working together to continue the fight for a more just and equitable Virginia.
