Our Commonwealth stands at a historic moment facing a number of momentous challenges, from the COVID-19 global pandemic to the long overdue need to end excessive use of force and abuse by law enforcement. Permeating all these challenges are the issues of racism and racial inequity, which have plagued our Commonwealth and our country since their inception.
To effectively address this, the Virginia Legislative Black Caucus (VLBC) has released a list of priorities for Special Session and will host a series of Virtual Community Conversations. VLBC members want to further engage with Virginians, get a deeper understanding of how these issues are affecting them, and garner suggestions on how best to address these challenges through legislation and policy proposals.
